How Acrylic Foam Tapes Differ

Not all acrylic foam tapes are created equal. Key variables include:

1. Adhesive Type: Determines bond strength and surface compatibility

2. Foam Core Properties: Affects flexibility, gap filling, and vibration damping. Thicker foams provide better gap filling and vibration dampening, while thinner foams enable low-profile bonds with less movement absorption.

3. Liner Type: PE liners are suitable for die-cutting whilst Easy Release Liners (ERL) are useful for the signage industry. 

4. Environmental & Substrate compatibility: Some tapes are designed for low-temperature application or low surface energy (LSE) surfaces such as polyethylene, polypropylene and non-stick surfaces. 

5. Colour: Grey is the most common colour for general-purpose high bond tapes. Clear is often used in glass-to-glass, clear plastics or display applications whilst white is often used in interior applications where appearance matters.
